  1. ok i have bunch of raw avis with 16:9 aspect ratio (confirmed by Gspot)
when im converting them to wmv, without any resizing or so, the outputed wmv plays in 4:3

when i check the wmv with gspot, it doesnt show any info about the aspect ratio (why is that?)

so, how to properly convert my AVIs to wmv and keep the default aspect ratio of 16:9?

p.s. the software im using is videocharge

  2. Try using the free Windows Media Encoder - it can definitely output 16:9 (you specify it in the profile) - and see if it helps.

AVI file headers don't contain aspect ratio information per se. Aspect ratios are guess from the image definition in the header - i.e., the equivalent of a bitmap header is stored in the AVI file that simply tells the software using it what size the image is.

If videocharge doesn't support 16:9 encoding, you'll have to use another program such as WME.

  3. thank you
WME does the job pretty good
the only thing i'm missing is if there is a batch processing?
Since i can't find a way to auto process bunch of files so far

(even if i add more sources it always outputs them in one file?)

  4. WME is scriptable and can even be embedded into other applications.

I can't vouch for this but here's an article that claims to do batch processing:

If you search around MS's site there's a download for an example script for batch processing.
