convert WMV for burn by nero

Hi,I have a wmv file(video make by wmp9)

I use win98, can't play in wmp 6.4 & 7.1

so want burn to vcd for see....

how convert wmv to vcd format,so that i can burn by nero

Hmmm, if you can't play it you probably can't convert it. Encoders need to first decode the avi the same way a player would. As you obviously can't decode it, then you probably can't encode it, sorry!

Every video I've made with WMM 1(WMV7) TMPGEnc was able to convert.I don't have XP so I can't say for WMM2 which uses WMV9 codecs.

you can try stoik media converter www.stoik.com but most likely you will need to download windows media encoder from www.microsoft.com if stoik doesn;t work. Now the Windows Xp secret #! is to simply open the file in windows moviemaker, no clips option to off and sav as .wmf which is easily handled by Tmpgenc and (some versions of viryual dub if the file extensilon is changed to .asf)

two questions -

where did you get the file? and
can you not run WMP9 on Win98?

if you got the file from someone else, have them re-encode it in a format you can read.

if you can't get the file re-encoded, and you can't run WMP9 on Win98, you will have to upgrade your OS to see the file.

the only other thing I can think of is that there is a native .wmv conversion add-on from Nero, I don't know if it will convert WMP9 files though. Check the support section of the Nero website for the .wmv converter.

otherwise, you're out of luck.

If your WMV file will not load in TMPGEnc:
1)In Environmental Settings set DirectShow to a higher priority(right-click)
2)Change .wmv extension to .asf
