I can import MPEG 1 into Premiere, bit it is really tough to "smoothly" edit the file. My question is this. I have figured out that editing in VDUB is really easy (as far as removing comercials) but I would rather not have to worry about exporting to AVI, and then BACK to MPEG.
Is there a way around all this?
thanks

Try frameserving from VDub. That way you won't have to save to avi before converting to mpeg.

Agreed - VirtualDub is the best option if your source is an AVI, however if the source is already MPG using Vdub means that you need to re-encode the file to produce the final edited MPG file.
If your source is already MPEG and all you want to do is cut the commercials then might I suggest you use the 'Merge & Cut' option in TMPGenc - this will not re-encode the original MPEG-1 file.
(Raise your hand if you need more information).
