I've been trying to figure out this known problem with the subtitle being out of sync with the movie as the movie progresses, and so far no luck. In case no one knows what I'm talking about, I use DVD maestro and subrib to author my dvd. I've read a few previous posts with the same problem, where the subtitle starts out being in sync with the movie, but then it starts lagging behind toward the middle of the movie. All the posts I've read doesn't really have a resolution as far as I know. If anyone knows the solution to this or knows the link to a previous post that resolves this problem, can you direct me to it? Help is greatly appreciated.

I wrote a little program to just change all the times in the file by 29.97/30 (which is the factor the subtitles are off).
You can do the pulldown twice also - once drop-frame and once not. That also takes care of the problem (import the drop-frame into maestro, import the subtitles, then remove the drop-frame version and put the non-drop-frame version in).
If subrip has a time-stretch - then 30/29.97 is the factor you want to stretch it by. It's not much, but it's almost 8 seconds at the end of a 2-hour movie, so it adds up..... -
Vidguy,
I"m pretty sure I tried doing the "dropframe/import subtitle/delete dropframe/ replace nondropframe method", but I was still having the same problem. I'm not sure how you do the 29/30 correction. Can you tell me exactly what I have to do during the subrip process. THanks a bunch. -
I wrote a small command-line tool to do it. I think some of the other subtitle rippers will also modify the timestamps as they rip - There's also a time adjust program that works with some of the subtitle files at http://www.ireksoftware.com/, but it doesn't work with Maestro...
I'll be happy to PM you the tool or the source code for the tool - there's not much to it.
