This may be a bit redundant, but I am trying to reduce the rip time of DVDBackup on my iMac Superdrive to something less than the current 1 1/2 -2 hours I am experiencing.
It has been suggested that I look at a combo or DVD-ROM drive in a Firwire case to get DVDBackup rip time down to 15-20 minutes. I am a bit techno challenged in this arena. Is it as simple as getting an additional drive and plugging it in to use it?
Can we get some specific model suggestions that will accomplish this task (and maybe some details to go with them). Not only would I appreciate it, but I expect that many others would benefit from the assembled knowledge.
Thanks in advance for any help.

While I do not use my Superdrive to do any ripping, it seems very strange that it should take that long to rip a movie. I use a Toshiba SD-M1612-S drive in a Pyro Firewire case and it rips in about 20-30 minutes with DVD Backup, depending on the length of the movie. My Superdrive is the Pioneer 103 which burns at the max 2X. I hardly ever use it as I have an external LaCie (Pioneer 105) Firewire which burns at 4X and also rips at the same speed as the Toshiba.
