Hi,
I have read many topics about how to make a DVD Player "VCR Frindly, but no one mentioned what does it mean and what does it do. Could anybody kindly give me some information about What does VCR frindly do in a DVD player. Some people also use the term Macrovision Hack for DVD players. Are Macrovision and VCR frindly the same thing? Thanks.

Macrovision is the ant-copy process used by movies to prevent you from making copies. When a DVD player is VCR friendly, it doesn't have Macrovision built in and you won't have distorted picture when hooked up to a vcr. You can disable the macrovision in alot of players making them VCR friendly as well.

And also as Macrovision (the company) tend to get a bit litigious when their name is used in association with DVD players you can record off !
Hence most hack sites refer to "VCR friendly" so as to avoid The ManWebmaster of Area 450, the independent site for owners of Sampo and Maxent DVD products the world over -
