  1. This out of sync problem seems to be a common problem.

    I performed the following steps:
    1. Split the AVI into 3 AVI files using Virtual Dub.
    2. Saved the uncompressed WAv from each of the AVI from step 1.
    3. In TMPGenc, entered each AVI (step1) and each WAV (step2), to encode to SVCD / mpg. Result: 3 mpg files.
    4. Used Nero, VCD format (VCD compliance switched off).

Audio / Video are out of sync for the 2nd and 3rd mpg file.
How can I solve this problem?

I have the impression that the Audio / Video out of sync problem is already presnt in the 2nd and 3rd AVI file from step 1. Am I overlooking something in Virtual Dub ?

Is there any other software that you would recommend to do the AVI to MPG / SVCD encoding causing less problems. I have not been able to ever create a successful (S)VCD.

    Your help is appreciated.

  2. I sync my AVI's using VirtualDub and choosing Video->Frame Rate and then choosing to "change so video and audio durations match". Disclaimer - I've used this three times on captured analog videos around 2 hours each. I may just be lucky, but it has worked for me.

I stumbled on that setting by accident, and I'm a newbie, so be warned.

  3. Thank you for your answer.

It did not do the trick.

In VitrualDub I selected a Videorange and save the file as AVI. When playing the file, the A/V are out of synce. The Audio preceeds the video.
