  1. being relatively new to all this , i am having great difficulty when encoding with tmpg . I split a film in virtualdub and saved both smaller files . I then burned first disc through nero no probs. second disc did identically the same and audio about 10 secs out of synch WHY?
then tried to encode second part through tmpg and keep getting stream writing error message. Please could somebody point me in the right direction

  2. When you cut the film in VirtualDub, did you remember to cut on a key frame ?

  4. Use gspot to find out if the 2 smaller avi's are the correct length. (top left hand corner groupbox with path/size/status)

Use VirtualDub to extract the wav from the original file. it's length should match what VirtualDub's "File"->"File Information" says is the length of the original file's video stream.

Is the original avi's audio a VBR type ? If so, try extracting it to an uncompressed wav and re-importing it with "Audio"->"WAV Audio" in VirtualDub. Then watch it and see if it's in sync at the beginning and the end.

Do the interleaving and preload skew's of the 2 smaller avi's match the original file ? That may be a long shot, but i'm out of ideas.
