  1. hey,
    im having truble capturing avi with my pctv pro.
    it drops 24 frames a minute !!!.
    the truble is that it only hapens with winxp, if i use my win98
    i dont have that problem at all.
    i have tried capturing with lower resolution and lower audio qulity
    but it doesnt work no metter what settings i use.
    its the first time im having this kind of problem, i even installed
    windows again but it didnt work...
    it allways dropes 24 - 25 frames a minute.

    i hope you can help

    Amd 2000+
    128 mb ddr
    video compression - mjpg codec
    audio compression - cd qulity 172 kb
    resolution - 640 X 576 (and then downsizing for svcd or cvd)

    Your configuration shouldn't give dropped frames. Since it doesn't in Win98, I would first suspect the WinXP drivers. Search for newer.

    Also, if your card and drivers suport it, capture through the WDM drivers, not the Video for Windows drivers. The WDM are newer and much faster.

    Also, I would capture at the final resolution to be used in SVCD or VCD. Saves bandwidth and time to resize.

    i figured out what it was that gave me the problem.
    i have an onboard ac97 codec, and it seems that it is causing the
    problems on windows xp.
    i just installed my old creative audio card, and it works grate
    NO droped frames at all.

    im going to stick with my old creative vibra, it never failed me..
