Interesting question.
Since it says (keep aspect ratio), I tried it with a 16:9 source to be encoded in 4:3 (for VCD or SVCD).
I selected 16:9 for the source video and 4:3 for the encoded and tried the two settings.
They both produced the same result. No difference in encoding speed, encoded file size or quality.
If you rest your mouse over the drop-down menu, it brings up some info about the settings. Can't say they enlightened me.
These settings may be left-overs from tests and tryouts by the Tmpgenc prorammer(s)! Can't think of anything else.
In any case, I don't think you will have problems with either for VCD or SVCDThe more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
I don't know the difference between those 2, but I do know about the last one because i use that one a lot for converting widescreen to amaphoric (can't afford widescreen tv). The 'full screen no margins' will convert a true widescreen movie to amaphoric without stretching the picture. It will cutoff the sides of the film to accomplish this ( you will notcie sometimes the credits cutoff a little). On amaphoric movies, it will convert them to full screen 4:3 and fit nicely on a regular tv.
