  1. 1. I converted an anime divx video to ntsc dvd standard using virtual dub (separating audio into a wav) and TMPGEnc using the guide posted on this site. In dvd workshop and moviefactory, the chapters i set do not match up with the chapters that are in the finished product (they are a minute or two ahead of where they should be). Also, i get audio sync problems with video data rates above 3000, on top of that the sound will just cut off before the end of the clip. The anime video has a frame size of 512x384 and is sampled at 23.976 fps. Does anyone know how i might be able to fix this problem?

    2. Given the frame size of this anime video, does anyone know what the optimum video data rate should be without losing quality? Or is there a way to find this out?

    3. I've been reading through the forums and people seem to agree that the program CCE is the best program for mpeg-2 encoding. I have the program but it is very complicated. Are there any CCE guides that people know of?

    Thanks in advance

go to http://www.doom9.org. Look for the "GUIDES" I havent had success yet but they have a nice guide about avi to dvd conversion using CCE and many other programs. I've been trying on the same movie for a couple of weeks but keep getting invalid framerate errors so I'm going to spend my time on another movie. If you have good luck tell me what you did.

    Sincerely,

    This is so much fun!

  3. DVD video (at full D1 resolution) is 720 * 480 (for NTSC) and has a framerate of 29.97fps. If our source is 23.97fps this is know as NTSC-film. In Tmpgenc click on settings, viode tab. Set encode mode to 3:2 pulldown when playback and framerate to 23.976 fps(internally 29.97fps)

As for the audio, if it is VBR virtualdub wull giv you a warning when you load the avi. In this case try using goldwave to extract the audio (www.goldwave.com). Just load the avi and save as an uncompressed wav file. Use this as the audio input to TmpGenc when encoding.

    2) Frame size does not come into it. The only thing that affects the size of the output is bitrate and movie length. Use a bitrate caculator to determine what bitrate settings you need. There are several in the tools section.

    3) I Don't use CCE, can't help there.
