    I've practically given up.
After extensive assistance over at Why do you hate me Virtualdub? I'm throwing in the towel.
I now intend to delete certain centre scenes from within Virtualdub and save as an edited avi and then open in TMPGEnc.
How do I ensure the edited avi I want to save is the same if not smaller than the original, as I've found by doing some testing the file size seems to increase!
I take it I'm right in thinking I should save the audio and video as uncompressed, right?
Lastly, how long would this process take, for say a hour hour avi, any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Will

Ok, i'll try my best here and explain this real detailed terms.

    First of all....

1 .Start up VDUB, Load into .Avi be choosing FIle/Open Video File,

    2. Using the mark in button(Backwarks facing arrow in black) press that. this is your start point,

    3. Using the Slider Bar at the bottom, get as close to the part you want to delete from the .AVI,

4, Using the Keyframe buttons(They Look like a little key and are yellow) use the forward keyframe button to bring you excaclty where you want to start the delete from,

    5. Now use the markout button(forwards facing arror in black).

    6. Make sure both Video and Audio are set to Direct Stream Copy,

    7. Goto file/Save Avi, give it name(Say like Cut Part 1) and choose a different location to save it to , then hit save,

    8. Once it's done finshed saving, it go back and put video to Full Processing mode then, using step3 and 4 to get you to end of the part you want to delete, and use the mark in button again, then use the slider bar to get you to the end of the avi and use the key frames to get excact end of it, then use the mark out button,

    9. Put Video back to Direct Sream Copy and choose the same location as your first CUT part, only this time name it CUT part 2.

    10. Once it's done, CLose Vdub Down, then restart it again, now load your first cut part in, then goto Append Avi Segment and load the Second Cut Part, make sure that Video and Audio are set to Direct Stream Copy, choose where to save it to and hit save.

    11. you have now cut out the part you wanted to delete and you new Avi should be smaller than the orignal.

    12. just repeat the steps if you have more than 1 bit to cut out.
