  1. I am having playback problems with DVD+R movies that I have created, hopefully someone who has had similar problems will be able to help me out. Here is the process that I am using:

    1. DVD Decrypter to rip to hard drive
    2. DVD2One to convert DVD-9 movies to a single disc
    3. Burn with Nero 5.5.10.0 under the following conditions:
    -DVD-Rom (UDF/ISO)
    -No Multisession
    -ISO Level 1
    -No Restrictions
    -No Joliet
    -Physical partition UDF 1.02

Media I have used is Memorex DVD+R and HP DVD+RW. My burner is an HP DVD200i.

I have perfect playback on the computer and have been able to play on PS2 about 1% of the time. I even went out and purchased a Cyberhome CH-402 to see if a standalone would work any better, no results with that either. I am not necessarily interested in buying a standalone to play these, but will do so if need be (Apex?). I would like to be able to play them on PS2 at minimum. Many people have posted about problems with Nero and DVD+R media in general. I also read that I should change the bit setting on the burner, but I believe the DVD200i already does this.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this before I make too many more coasters? I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks!

  2. Although I've never used it, Nero 5.5.10.0 is supposed to really suck. I use 5.5.10.7b. It works fine, although I'm burning -r, not +r. Try updating Nero first. That could be your problem.
    Sometimes, ya just gotta.....umm, what's the word........FART???

  3. are you suppose to choose DVD-ROm (iso/udf) or DVD-ROM (UDF)?

No problem at all with Nero and +R or +RW. Using Nero 5.5.9.

  5. I actually have tried both UDF and UDF/ISO within Nero and neither seems to work. I have updated to 5.5.10.7 and I get the same problem. Didn't this update simply fix the problem of Video file sorting? Should I revert to an older version of Nero?

I just use NERO EXPRESS, click on DVD video and add all the files including IFO and BUP and burn. All settings left at default.

  7. Ok, this time I've tried using Stomp RecordNow Max instead of Nero. I used the DVD Decrypter to rip to my HD, then DVD2One to encode, then RecordNow Max with HP DVD+RW media to burn. Still getting disc read errors. Any thoughts?

I don't think it would be the media as this is happening on both Memorex and HP.

I don't think it's the hardware as firmware is at it's newest and hasn't ever given any burning errors. I've even used the bitsetting to change the drive to DVD-ROM.

I am not sure about DVD Decrypter being the best to use though. Should I try SmartRipper or are they both about the same? I wouldn't think it would matter since they both are simly decoders.

DVD2One has also never shown any errors or anything like that so I think it's fine.

Perhaps I am just cursed? Any more thoughts?

When and Where are you getting DISK READ ERRORS, when writing from the hard drive?

  9. I assume you are closing or finalizing the disc. If not they won't play in most players. I use RecordNow for burning both DVD-R and DVD+R all of which play in any of the three stand alone players I have.

  10. The disc read errors are coming from my PS2 and various standalones. There are never any errors reported by the software or anything on the computer, just when I try to play them in something else.

Are there any special things that I need to do to finalize in RecordNow, RecordNow Max, or Nero? I could not find anything in any of these that would do that. Did I pass something over?
