for some reason my computer refuses to play vcd or svcd from a disc from both my matshita dvd drive and my lg r/w drive.
I have no problem playing mpegs from my hard drive with both power dvd and elecard, but i cant seem to access the file from a cd (wont copy and paste from cd to h/d either)
so far i have reinstalled both software players and tried dma ticked and unticked, maybe its a missing .dll? should i reinstall the drives?
ps.dvds work perfectly its just vcd and svcd
    thanks in advance

...doesn't mean the same thing. I play (S)VCD's (as (S)VCD) with WinDVD if I want to play it on my computer. The individual files on a (S)VCD aren't meant for direct access. If you don't want to use the VCD, but rather play the MPEG file, keep it as such - don't author to (S)VCD.

What i mean is the svcds i make and the ones ive bought wont play on the computer only on my standalone but the thing is they used to play fine.
the reason i try to access the mpegs is when the svcds i buy dont play properly i drop them onto my h/d and remux.
my svcds never autoplayed but with powerdvd (full version )in file mode and elecard there was no problem until now .

If you want the mpeg, extract it with VCDGear. With WinDVD, I just pop the VCD in my DVD drive and hit "Play". Never failed.
