Hi I made myself a dvd of vcd quality files with these settings
Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 224kbps) it all worked fine so i deleted the source video files (almost 20gb of smallville episodes) but now i've noticed I got a typo on the menus! is there anyway I can convert the dvd disc and rip the episodes all back individually to mpeg files? every disc contains about 10 episodes
thanks

I would suggest an approach that doesn't involve decoding into AVI and recompressing again into MPEG. You will lose both quality and time.
I would do the following:
Rip the contents of the DVD using (e.g. Smartripper) into m2v and mp2 streams (use stream processing and select to demux to separate files. This will get you the video and audio streams out of the VOBs.
You can then use Tmpgenc to multiplex the elementary streams into MPG files you can use for the authoring program.
Redo the menus from scratch (you can cut and paste the backgrounds using your DVD player s/w).
An even faster approach (that might work - doen't work with me always) would be the following:
Rip the episodes into VOB files (including audio and video) and then rename the VOB into mpg. Funny, but it might work. This will save you the multiplexing phase.
If your authoring s/w accepts separate audio and video streams, the trick above is irrelevant. You don't even have to re-mux the streams after ripping.
Hope the above is clear and useful. The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
thank you so much for your help I used smart ripper to rip the individual episodes as vobs and simply renaming the vob as mpg worked i'll recompile the dvd without the errors now! one again thanks for your help
