    help in need to get the best program to vcd extract to wav?

  2. There are several ways of doing this. However, the first step is to copy over the MPEG data from the VCD to the HDD (you don't necessarily have to do this -- but I usually do).

    You can do this by using VCDGear to load the relevant "DAT" file on the VCD and saving it as an MPEG file on your HDD (i.e., DAT --> MPG conversion -- this doesn't involve re-encoding and takes no longer than copying).

    Then, with you MPEG file you can get the audio as WAV in the following two ways:

    1. Load your MPEG with VirtualDub and save the audio as WAV.

    2. Demultiplex the audio from the video (e.g., you can use TMPGEnc). The audio is in MPEG-1 Layer 2 format. You can load this file into Winamp and use the Disc Writer plug-in to save it as a WAV.

    how about just to extract the backround music only no vocals?

  4. Karaoke VCDs have the vocals + music on one channel and music only on the other.

    Thus, load up the WAV you have at the end of the process with CoolEdit (or some other WAV editing proggy), and delete the channel that has the vocals.
