  2. Maybe a bit overkill, but i use coreldraw 7.0. Just make a template for a DVD cover and insert pictures and/or text. Easy!

  3. I used Adobe Photoshop 7.0

I've been making alot of dvd sets of old TV shows and cartoons not available at retail. (Speed Racer, Green Hornet, Get Smart). ONLY for personal use of course, as I can feel VHS tapes withering away each time I played them.

And being a "sick" perfectionist... I needed artwork.

So, I made a template with correct dimentions and layer up the canvas with artwork, synopsis and pics of content and for fun....I put a DVD LOGO and faux UPC Bar code, credits and warnings on the discs to confuse the wife between the retail and homebrewn discs we have in our library.

    Advice for other "sick" perfectionists:
If you really want the output to be HIGH QUALITY, you should print to PHOTO paper for best results, but use only MATTE finish paper as GLOSSY will stick and bubble on the dvd case's plastic sleeve.

Don't go cheap on the DVD label either...use GLOSSY.

*Of course your final output will depend on your source material, printer capabilities and time you wish to devote/waste on creating a dvd sleeve.

  5. Im not at home right now...but you should be able to do a search for specifications on the net....

If not.... I will try to return and post the dimensions I am using.

Also keep in mind that you may have to do a little trick to get your printer to print onto an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of photopaper. Why? Because the length of a dvd sleeve is close to 11 inches (from memory about 10 3/4in which leaves you only about 1/8 room for left and right viewing edge/top and bottom-printing edge) therefore in order to print to close to the maximum of the sheet edge you must attach your 8 1/2 x 11 sheet to a 8 1/2 x "14"...this way your printer will THINK its printed to a longer sheet and not complain about the 1/2 inch edge buffer needed on most printers.

Hope that helps and not confuses...

I don't know how cool you want it to be, but I found some MS Word templates on the net that work perfect for me. It has exactly what I wanted... Ability to put pictures on the front/back and writing on the spine.
I can post the link if anyone would like. I think the templates were shareware for about $10 or so.
