  1. First post... great forum, guys.

    Here's my setup:

    Pinnacle Studio 8.5.18
    and/or
    Nero Burning ROM 5.5.9.0

    MATSHITA DVD-RAM LF-D311
    Verbatim DataLifePlus (DVD+R)

I get nowhere with either software... I've been trying for weeks. Any info will help.

    Thanks, guys.

What are you trying to do? Archive a DVD if so is it a 9 or 5. Or are you doing DV video editing? Post exactly what you have and what you are attempting to accomplish for better forum answer results. If it is DVD9to 5, I do not understand your program choices.

  3. Not much info but Studio 8 should do the whole thing.
Does Studio 8 see your burner?

    Some basic info.
To create a DVD you need Mpeg2 video and audio that can be in PCM, AC3 or MPG format. These are then authored into VOB files that can be burned to a DVD as a DVD Video. (Specific format that can be in different bitrates for different lengths of video)

Studio 8 can do a basic DVD video even without a burner installed. (Some people have problems with Studio 8 so you might want to try some of the demo version's of other software to see if everything is working. I recommend ULead's DVD Workshop 1.2 demo. It will function for 30 days and allows you to create full Video DVD's.

Lastly, I'd recommend creating a DVD in a folder on your computer before burning unless your using RW media. Then using a computer DVD player view the disc (in the hard drive folder). If all works, burn!

  4. If I'm not mistaken the Matshita/Panasonic DVD burner you are using supports DVD-R discs and not DVD+R. Check your manual to verify you are using the right media.

  5. Doggiedaddy: I'm doing DV editing.

LaddyDaddy: Good info. I couldn't find a listing of supported media for the DVD Burner. I'll try to find a manual online, because I didn't find one with my computer information.

Thanks, everyone. I'll keep you posted.

Keep the ideas coming if you think of anything else.

  6. I believe that Laddydaddy is correct. I also own a 700 xl with a Matishita drive. It only does dvd-r and ram. Get yourself some Verbatim -r and you will be all set. That is what I use. And what ever you do, stay away from memorex. Had nothing but problems with them.

Excellent... I'm going by Best Buy on the way home from work and giving it a shot. Thanks, MCD!
