  1. Hi I'm not completely new but I guess I fall into the newbie class, well I have a Standalone DVD player, its Samsung, the dvd-s224.
I downloaded a few films and I've converted them to VCD format but they are originally 23.97 fps, I know PAL is 25fps but my dvd player apparently plays both formats, problem is its Jerky upon playback on my standalone player, PC is fine. It starts off not too bad but by the end of the film its very noticable, no lip sync probs though.
I'm using TMPGEnc for encoding to mpg, the settings I am using are 23.97fps so it encodes the same speed that it originally is so should work better, would I be better encoding in 25fps or would this be jerky from the start. Also in Nero when recording I am selecting NTSC as encoding resolution, again would selecting PAL make a difference, please opinionate

I see a slight contradiction here.
    On one hand:
I'm using TMPGEnc for encoding to mpg
    on the other
Also in Nero when recording I am selecting NTSC as encoding resolution
It should be one or the other. It sounds like Nero is reencoding your mpeg that's already encoded with TMPGEnc.
Use VCDEasy to author the mpeg from TMPGEnc, then if your cd burner isn't supported by VCDEasy, use Nero, but this time just to burn the cue/bin that VCDEasy has produced.

  3. Not being funny mate but you're getting confused, I'm not encoding in Nero as you can do this when you just plonk an avi in, I am encoding in TMP, the way I know it is not reencoding it is cuz it only takes 8 minutes for the full burn process instead of hours for a full encode, no contradiction mate

PAL or NTSC is a property of the MPEG, not concerning the authoring/burning app. That's what led me to believe that Nero is doing something to the MPEG. But 8 minutes again tells me that it's not, so...

  5. I've cracked it guys, I encoded it as NTSC(23.976 fps) and recorded it in Nero with Pal as the format and it works perfect, no jerkiness whatsoever.
    Sorted
