  3. Man I know what you guys are going through. Fortunately there is a nice little registry fix. I was pulling my hair out with avi files and trying to delete them. Then I found this little fix.

Just open up your registry and manually look for this key and delete it.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesCLSID{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}InProcServer32

    Enjoy!

  5. I encountered this once. I think it was after a system crash+reboot.

What I did was rename the capture.avi to capture. I just got rid of the avi extension. Then the file can be trashed.

  6. Well if it says that "another program is using the file" then I am sure that it won't let you rename it....

If you have Nero installed on your system, you can delete the AVI from Nero explorer window.

go to start menu (At the left bopttom of your screen) choose the run command and enter this
    REGSVR32 /U SHMEDIA.DLL
and it will fix your problem. this is a bug in xp where explorer has to read the whole avi to get to the header.
