  1. I was curious as to whether anybody out there had any luck in getting the Panasonic to read DVD-RWs or even DVD+RW's. Obviously I know the DMR E-30 won't record RW media but what about read and play RW media recorded elsewhere. According to the Writer Reviews on this site it has the DMR E-30 listed as reading -RW's but I only tried TDK -RW without any luck. Any input would be appreciated.

  5. Hey thxkid, are you going by personal experience?. I have tried Philips+RW and Sony +RW discs (burned in the Sony DRU 500AX) and neither were recognized by the DMR E30.

I used the DVD RAM -RW disc which came with the Pan DMR-E30 to record and playback successfully. I didn't try other brands.

  9. to all concerned I have the E10, E20 and my brother has the E30 and HR-2 panasonic recorders I have personally tried these brands of DVD+R and DVD+RW as I have the HP DVD200i burner.

DVD+R Riteks burned over 100, all played in all above machines
DVD+R Verbatuims over 50, all played in above recorders
    DVD+RW
Philips - burned 6 test DVDs played fine in all above
Imation - burned 4 test DVD's played in above recorders
HP - burned maybe 10-15 test discs of various DVD movies played in all above machines.
DVD-R - Rireks recorded about 100 in the panasonics with 8-10 failures
DVD-R - Merritline recorded about 20, with better results than the riteks

I use the free bitsetter and changed my HP to record these +R and +RW's as DVD+ROM's, they work in anything I play them in once I burn the DVD's like this.

The Panasonic E30 will play Sony DVD-RW discs. These when run through DVDinfo are actually manufactured by JVC.

  11. DVD-RAM RW !!. I think some people are getting a bit confused. !

Yes The DVD ram is a ReWritable disc but its not a RW disc. Anyway. I have played Datawrite DVD-RWs in my E30, but i aoften seem to have probs with CD-RW and DVD-RW in general, in fact while trying to erase my last DVD-RW ive somehow managed to wreck my 104 !! So im staying away from them, Ive just ordered new Panasonic DVD writer that alspo supports DVD-Ram buring so ill be using DVD-RAM from now on for rewritable testing.
