  1. To create a SVCD I'm following this guide:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/111846.php
except that i use TMPEG (with default settings).
I tried splitting the source video with VirtualDub into 2 parts and it took about 7 hours to convert each part (~50mins -> 14 hours for both parts).
Now, since setting the bitrate, DVD2SVCD is able to create 800MB files, i give it the entire file (about 2gb) and let him to split the video.
I've done various test on different computers, but it always estimates the remaining time in about 30/50 hours!
    Any idea idea ? Thanks!

  2. What's your CPU? Encoding is VERY CPU heavy. I had a k6-2 500Mhz and it took me ~18hrs to encode a 90min DivX file to xVCD in TMPGenc (CQ_VBR). Then I got a Tbird 1.2Ghz and it took me ~1.1x the source run time to encode to MPEG2 in CCE. Now I've got an AMD 2200XP+ and it takes me ~0.7x the source runtime per pass.

TMPGenc is a lot slower than CCE. I think when I used TMPGenc to encode MPEG on the Tbird it took me ~4x the source runtime (but it's hard to remember).
