  1. In the DVD rip section of this board tools are listed to rip the contents of the DVD into VOB files. Is there any known differences between how well they do the job? -OR- is one just as good as another? Example: 'smart ripper' versus 'Clad DVD'? TIA!!

    Hi,

I started out with Smartripper which worked pretty well , nice gui , but I found it froze up my pc several times on start-up.
After that I tried CladDVD with no problems so far. This is only my experience others might have had trouble the other way round!

  3. They all do the same thing. But I like smartripper because I can see the various streams and chapters before I rip them. If you plan to rip the whole movie/DVD each time then it doesn't matter.

DVDDecrypter seems to be the most stable.

DVD De-Crypter is by far and away the best.

  5. For general ripping, SmartRipper is probably better. For FlaskMPEG, DVD Decrypter is possibly better.

doom9 wrote an excellent review and comparision of the various rippers. Have a look here: http://www.doom9.org/dvd_ripper_comparison.htm

  6. Use CladDVD. It's the best ripper as far as multi-angle processing. I had to re-rip some movies that I had ripped with SmartRipper and DVDDecrypter and when I encoded them, they started looping.

This hasn't been a problem since I changed to CladDVD.

  7. Thank you all for the input! It looks like from the replies that if the program rips it then and you can encode w/ the results that it is good enough for me. Any way... I am new at this and all the input is GREATLY aprreciated. All of you have a great day. Thanks.
