  3. you can get 90 min cd s on the net
ive tried them...dont like them , you ll find once you use them that a lot of readers or writers wont be able to read them. if you plan to use em just for yourself then they re great though!! ( if your writer supports them )

i saw a link on this very forum for double sided cdr s , if you have a search back ..i m sure you ll find it

  4. Let's stop some rumour.

    Double-side CD-Rs DO NOT exist.

Indeed, they CANNOT exist without violating the physical dimensions of a CD (thickness). That, or someone will have to invent a replacement material to serve the same function as the polycarbonate platter but with just the right refractive index (doesn't exist).

The 90min CDRs available on the market all use poor dye, which makes them cheap/bad cdrs. I bought some from shop.disc4you.com and yeah, they work and all. But they will probably get ruined (and become unplayable) within a few months.

I saw some 90mins at CompUSA recently, try there (even though CompUSA makes the worst CDRs out on the market).

Just for the record, the 90min CDRs play fine on my Pioneer DV-333. =)

  8. Why bother to look for 90 min CDR. using Tmpge encoder You can have 100 min movie on 1 80min CDR

  9. MABE SO...
BUT I BET THE QUALITY IS CRAP!!!!
THE ONLY WAY TO FIT A 100 MIN MOVIE ONTO A 80 MIN CD IS TO COMPROMISE THE QUALITY
THEN WHAT S THE POINT..YOU MAY AS WELL PUT IT ON TO VIDEO.

Sorry, that just is not necessarily true. The VideoCD standard is MPEG-1 CBR. Using Sefy's SxVCD templates, I was able to get 80 minutes of video on an 80min CDR. By using MPEG-2 VBR encoding, very, very little quality is lost. And can hardly be considered crap.

I can see with judicious tweaking of settings that it would be possible to get around 100 minutes of video on a single 80 min. CDR with VCD-comparable quality.

VBR makes a significant difference because it only uses higher bitrates when needed...and drops down where appropriate, making intelligent use of space.
