  1. I am brand new to Premiere, I am running 6.0.

I have a bunch of 30 minute captures that I want to cut up into small clips so that I can edit the good ones togeather.

My problem. When I use the Razor tool to slice the original clip into small sections, cut it out and paste it into a new bin, I only get Video or audio...

How can I cut a large clip into small clips so that include the audio and video?

Can this be done in premiere? Do I have to edit to small clips in some other program?

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for nothing, Richard!

I have consulted TFM, their website, and a book I purchased.

Somewhere I am missing the god damn tool that does what I want.

It could be that I am new to this and I am not up on the jargon, so I am not finding what I need because my search criteria is not going to find my answer.

So I turned, to youfine folks with a simple question. I am glad to see that the creme of the crop has risen to the top and taken their precious time to help someone out. Heaven forbid that someone comes to a place Called VCD help to get help creating their VCDs.

So in short, Bite Me and kindly do not read my posts. You are wasting all of our time!

Being new to Premiere as well, I very well understand your frustration--especially to the previous responder.

The problem is that you have somehow "unlinked" the audio and video tracks. When I import or capture a DV file, they are usually "linked", so that when you cut, then it applies to both the video and audio tracks. Go to Help and do a search on "link". You will find a topic entitled "Linking video and audio clips in the Timeline". They give directions for linking these tracks together. Although I'm using 6.5 rather than 6.0, I suspect that they are the same.

Hope that this will at least point you in the right direction. Good luck!

  5. Thanks WWAAG. You pointed me in a direction that helped.

I still can not cut and paste the video and Aduio togeather. BUT, I was able to Unlink the two, cut one at a time and paste them where I needed them then link them back togeather.

So it is a 4 step process, instead of one, but it is working!

    Thanks for the tip!
