I saw this auction and wondered what the trick is to make the Dvr a03 record all discs at 2x?
"You are bidding on a Pioneer DVR-A03 DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW burner. This one has a special feature, it can burn all dvd-r 1x speed at 2x speed!! so it's possible to use very cheap 1x dvd-r (all brands) and burn at 2x speed all times."
Anyone with any insight on that? Thanks

That's an easy one -- there is hacked firmware that allows 2x burning. Free to you for any A03 you have. Do a search for pioneer dvr firmware. But in my case, it still didn't work. Got some other sort of errors whenever I tried to burn at 2x. I thnk you are mostly going to be stuck at 1x with an old A03.
