Some third-party vendors are jumping on the free-software bandwagon. Avid (http://www.avid.com), for example, accounced Free DV - a DV editor for OS X and Windows XP that goes beyond iMovie, with two tracks of video, four audio tracks, and real-time transitions and effects. Expect it midyear.
Will be interesting since I know I've always longed for an iMovie like freebie for Windows
Guess we will just wait and see
