I need help bad

i am trying to play a clip on my dvd player. i converted it to mpeg. i am using nero as a burning software. I get an error asking me to switch to take off standard compliant cd. so i take it off. and i burn the clip on the cd-rw. I read that cd-r dont work for my dvd player only cd-rw. when i try to play it on my dvd player with the cd-rw it says reading then the screen goes black. when tried with a cd-r it says reading then ejects the cd-r. can someone please help me . i have a jvc dvd player.

What type of mpeg are you trying to burn? SVCD or VCD? From Nero wizard are you selecting the proper format?
Try again with a different brand cdrw.
