I'm not really a newbie, however the sum of my knowledge seems to be just enough to get me trapped in head-scratching cul-de-sacs on a consistent basis....
In this case, stumbling into the realm of dvd-r, authoring, encoding, etc., I have been busy experimenting with many of the applications for encoding/authoring/burning outlined on these pages. Been a lot of downloading, installing-uninstalling, etc.
Somehow, in the last few of days, I've managed to bollix up the replay of MPG files in Mediaplayer. The video plays fine when I open it, but if I drag the cursor ahead of "jump" forward in the video, the replay starts to to run ultra-fast. And it's not consistent, it can be double-time, quadruple time or seven times triplequadruple time. All over the place. The only way to stop it is to close the file and start again.
And this only happens with MPG video, not AVI.
At first I thought it was possibly due to upgrading from DirectX 8.1 to DirectX 9. I went back to 8.1 but that was no help.
Any ideas what I did to mess up and any remedies?
