  1. Well, I made my first record last night from HDD-->DVD-R. My menu and titling area of the disk sucked. I know, as many of you have said the menu system on the Panny E80 is very limited. However, I think it will be functional enough if I can figure it out. I just need someone to give me some step-by-step instruction on the process of shortening segements, assigning a title, setting up the menu and recording to DVD-R. The Panasonic manual is crap!

Let's try this scenario: I want to take two 1 hour home VHS videos and stick on a DVD-R each of which will be listed in the start menu of the disk. I play one in the VCR and record it to my HDD. I insert the next one and record it to the hard drive. Say one is Christmas 2002 and the other is 2003. But, both have some trash at the beginning and trash at the end. I tried "shorten segment" by marking where I wanted to "start" and "end" for that each one of them but when I went back and viewed either one, the trash was still there as if I had done nothing. Each one gets set up as a seperate playlist right or am I wrong to use playlists? Ok, so I need help with that.

Once we get that done for both movies, then I give them a title in "direct navigator" and choose dubbing, correct? There I also give the disk a title like "Christmas Memories". Choose the dubbing direction from HDD --> DVD-R, the mode as SP since total movie length will only be 2 hours. Am I on track with this part?

Thanks for any light you could shed. I think the Panny manual writers should be shot. A knowledgeable 10 year old could write a more intuitive manual than Panasonic has produced for this.

    Thanks!
