  1. I just spent all day authoring a menu for my movie. Now when I go to compile it, it finishis but I get a message the states " the calculated video bitrate is to high for a legal dvd stream, build canceled" I encoded the 6 small m2v files all at 7000 cbr. All my audio is ac3 448kbps. If I encoded at 7000 why is it telling me its to high???? Please help!!!

  2. Man, I can't believe this crap. If I only add 3 movies, it compiles ok. If I add more then 3 I get this build error. Whats the deal, can't maestro handle more then 3 movies??? Heck I even tried just adding all them to the same timeline and still no luck. I tried all 6 movies in random order and still no luck. No more then 3 movies are allowed period. All m2v files were encoded with tmpg dvd template at 7000 cbr. There is no way the bitrate is to high. Anybody out there got an answer for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Maybe 3 movies do not exceed the 4.3 GB limit, while 4 movies do.
In that case you'd have to lower your bitrate for 4 movies to fit on a DVR.

I didn't have such problem with Maestro, but it's just an idea.

    cheers,

run all your clips through bitrate viewer first just to make sure ..

do you have a dual cpu system ? if so , set affinity to 1 cpu for maestro

reencode the movies at less than 6000cbr... try 5900, i read somewhere that 6000cbr is the highest bitrate that u can author the DVDs with... im not sure, i just remember i read it somewhere... and be sure you wont lose much on the quality even at 5000cbr

  6. I have put 4 movies on a DVD-R with Maestro totalling 6.25 hours and maestro did not hiccup.

I have even made builds that were too large to fit on the disc after creation and maestro didn't complain.

Are you using a Pinnacle card to do your encoding?

not true -- you can go the "max"

maestro will make a dvd of any size as it is designed for compiling dual layer dvd's

true, but i read that the standalone players can't take on a bitrate higher than 6000, no matter the size and the lenght of it... IF its higher than 6000, it can be 5 secs, but 7000cbr, that might not work , i know u can have dual layer DVDs and lenght of 5-6 hours at 4000cbr and about 7-8BG ... thats what i read, i dont know if its true tho

no - all dvd players can take the max allowed bit rate ... or they can not be called dvd players - BUT , some dvd players don't like BURNED dvd's at higher bit rates ... so to be on the safe side 7000 or 7500 max is a good rule .. but not always nessessary

  10. Well I was able to get it narrowed down to one of the movies as being the problem. Appearently tmpg didn't do a good job maintaining the 7000 cbr. Must have some big spikes in it. I reencoded and all is well except for one problem. How do I set the "first play" in Maestro? I got all other buttons assigned ok, but I can't find an option for first play.

  11. On the leftside tree view, make sure you have clicked on "*.dvd Project" or "Movies" or "Menus". Then go to Connections. You will see First play. On the tree if you have clicked on Movie1 or Movie2 or anything else, you dont see first play in connections.

  13. Thanks guys. You helped me figure that one out. Just one more quick question. I finished up the project and burned it but now I have another small problem. I have 2 menus. The main menu has a "play" and a "chapters" buttons. My "play" button works fine, but on the stand alone players the "chapters button" don't work. I can't hardly understand that. I have it assigned to "MENU 2 (No Button)" That is correct isn't it?? But it won't highlight and activate. But it works on my cpu drive through windvd. I have it assigned right don't I??? I thought maybe it was supposed to be assigned to "MENU 2:Button 1" I was about to try it that way but thought I would check with you guys before I burn up another coaster.

  15. Thanks for the advice. Unfortuanatly I have already followed that guide as well as the one on doom9. Both guides suggest using
"menu 2(No Button)" to link the 2nd button to menu 2. But it will not activate on my 3 standalone players. I won't even higlight.
