  1. My usual method is: Decrypter (file mode), DVD2AVI, VFAPI, CCE and Maestro.. ain't working with Disney titles, e.g., Beauty/Beast and Tarzan..

Well, seems file mode in Decrypter isn't working due to multi-angles(??).. So I ripped in IFO mode, stream processing the video and audio files. But I ended up with 4 .m2v files, totaling ~3.8G, whereas normally, I only have 1 .m2v file to putz with.. and the guide I'm using now only ended up with 1 .m2v file after IFO rip/stream process.. did I do something wrong?

Can someone briefly outline the steps after ripping or direct me to a guide that ends up with mulitiple .m2v files after stream processing? Thanks. Oh, also, I tried creating a .d2v file from 1 of the .m2v files (using DVD2AVI) and then 'frameserved' using VFAPI.. but when importing the resulting file into CCE only registered an incorrect # of total frames for the movie (~78,000 frames--correct is double that)

  2. Check out Shadowrunners explanation in this topic:

It works great for me. I've recently done both Beauty & The Beast and Tarzan using his method.

  3. Thanks rgardjr.. will try when I get home tonite. But I sure I hope I have a "vob ifo" file somewhere in that folder.

Also, is this also the case with Attack of the Clones?? I couldn't backup that sucker either..

  4. I'll give you a run down of what has happened for me. I rip the first angle of the movie using DVDDecryptor. This creates an ifo for the vobs that are ripped. Then I open up the ifo file in Ifoedit. Click on the VOB extras and strip the other audio tracks and subtitles. About halfway through Ifoedit will tell you that there is no video_ts.ifo. Just click ok and it will create the files for you and continue to correct the pointers. After Ifoedit finishes open up the new video_ts.ifo and click on GET VTS Sectors. Click O.K. a few times and your finished. You should now beable to play the results with powerdvd or whatever software player you have on your computer. If it plays fine then burn then burn it to dvd-r.

  5. OK.. I think I neglected to rip only 1 angle in DVD Decrypter.. shouldn't be difficult to figure out how, but where in Decrypter do you specify only 1 angle, (e.g., Angle 1), I'm assuming.. ?

  6. DVDdecryptor will select the vobs with the movie on it for you and usually underneath that (in IFO mode) there will be a subdirectory of 3 angles for the movie, just click on the first (top) to select it.

  7. Got it! Thanks, friend.. NOW... onto the next obstacle... '-)

Got everything to work fine, save I miscalculated end movie-size. So now I've got total movie + menu + xtras = ~5.2G.. I didn't want to re-encode the film again, so I decided to re-encode one of the extras, which totals ~996M.
However, I tried two methods to reduce the size (ReMPEG and CCE). But I cannot get audio either way..?? I tried demuxing the audio from DVD2AVI but for some reason, I don't get an audio file---only a .d2v file..?

    Please advise.. thanks.

  8. I'm not going to beable to help you with re-encoding. The method I showed you basically strips the movie down to bare bones so it will fit on a single dvd without having to mess around with encoding. Basically, what you're left with using this method is the movie, one audio track, and one subtitle track. No menus, no extras, etc... I've heard DVD2ONE works pretty well, but I'm guessing you're going to have to do some searching for the re-endoding information you're looking for. Good Luck.

  9. I know that you are looking at doing the piece meal process, but I figure I would offer this up as an alternative. Download DVD2SVCD at www.dvd2svcd.org

it is a one click solution type of application that after set your initial settings, you just click go and come back and you have the final files to burn onto whatever media you want. I don't do DVDR stuff, but do CVD, which Ibelieve aside from the authoring piece is the same. Anyway, I have backed up tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, and Star Wars II (and several other movies) with this application with no issues. I am doing CVD nonstandard, which is 352x480 48mhz audio for the movies, so when the dvd burners do come down in price, all I have to do is drop the mpeg file into an authoring program and burn.

    Anyway, give dvd2svcd a try.

  10. rgardjr has heard right.

DVD2ONE is the simplest way to do what you want to. It's amazing how well it works. By the time all the extra stuff is stripped out, you've got a file size so small that it doesn't even have to be transcoded. I did Beauty and the Beast with no problems. DVDDecrypter in file mode to rip, Nero to burn.

If you want just the film, this is the way to go. With some of the new add-ons, you can include the menu as well. Easiest method there is.
