Like tenders says, you have a bad frame which although is not evident when you play the file causes the video to freeze during encoding. Scan the video for bad frames with vdub, when it reports the bad frames save as a new avi file with a different name with direct stream copy selected for the video and audio.

i tried doing that in vdub...video->scan video for errors..it scaned and found 1 bad frame...i then cliked on audio->direct stream copy then vdeo-->direct stream copy. after this i went to file and cliked "save as avi" and renamed to new file. once it saved tthen i opened the video in real player and it worked unitl the corrputed frame...the video then froze at that frame but the audio resumed......plz help
thanks in advance -
