  1. hello,
    hope someone can help,
    i have a dvd,that is vcd,cdr,cdrw compatible,
but i have been trying to convert avi files on vcd with various programmes,
it seems is working but when i load in the dvd,i keep getting
the "no audio data", message, therefore it will not play,
i even tried a trial version of a very expensive program, which you only have to click to convert, which it does, but same again,i cannot play
    due to the same reason.
thank you in advance to you all

You need to provide a lot more information about your method of creating a VCD before anyone will be able to help you. If you have not tried it, try TMPG. If you have tried it, tell us exactly how you went about it.

On the scarce information you have provided, it seems like you have not extracted the audio as an uncompressed .wav. Or looked at the various guides on this site.

  3. well i did encode with honestech encoder(trial version)
and ulead movie factory, also trial version,
and all i did was to import the file and click enter and the encoding
started and at the end it appeared as job done,
but when i tried to play i had the no audio data message coming up.
    i will try tmpeg.
    thanks

You will probably get the same problem. Get a copy of Virtualdub, and extract the audio as an uncompressed .wav before encoding. Look in the convert section for further information.

Well, it doesn't sound like you are working with an avi with that error message! Does your file have an avi extension? If so,get a copy of Gspot from the tools section, and get some more information on it.

  7. hello m8,
    thanks for replying,
i have checked with g-spot and it did no bring up any error,
i think probably know what it is ,my cd writer cannot handle vcds,
in that case would you know which is the best converter from avi/divx to cdr/cd-rw?
    hopefully this is the reason.
    thank you in advance.
    anyway i live in Oxford.
    all the best

Check the convert section and the guides on this site. All CD writers can create VCDs. It is a function of the writing software that is used.
