I have a series 2 stand-alone Tivo that is almost full of episodes of a series that I really love. The problem is, I have about 40 episodes more that I need to get and when I run out of room I will be SOL.
I resigned myself to doing an analog capture of the episodes that I have by running coax from the video out on the Tivo to the video in on my AIW Radeon 8500DV. I wanted to capture in premiere 6.5 so I could easily do some editing to the video I captured, and then export it as fully functional demuxed mpv and mpa streams that I can use to build season sized DVDs with. For some reason though, when I try to setup the AIW to capture premiere tells me that the AIW is in use by something else. I have stopped all processes and can capture in vegas video and other programs, just not premiere (which is my preferred method). ATI's stupid MMC captures for crap, and is very limited in giving me options to get the stream that I want.
Does anyone have an idea as to how to get Premiere to capture from this AIW card?
Thank for any help you all can give, this quest for the holy grail is extremely frustrating...

premiere and vegas use the exact same mpeg encoder and have the same quality output for mpeg encoding .. why not just capture it in vegas ?

Don't like Vegas, and I know Premiere very well... Would prefer to use something that I am more familiar with than have to learn *yet another* damn program in order to put together decent DVDs...
Sorry to sound cynical, but why shouldn't a $700 program be able to do what it is supposed to with a $350 video card? I can understand why these software pirates do what they do...

*sigh* was the result I was expecting, but the forums here have suprised me many times with excellent work-arounds. First time I have been disappointed, but to think back when I first got into this and what I know now? This place is amazing.
Back to the drawing board I guess... -
