You could demultiplex the vob with a program like Tmpeg into it's elementary streams .m2v and ac3. Any authorware should except them.

  3. I would demux with DVD Decypter or smartripper. See the faqs/guides to the left. But here's an outline:

    1) Run smartripper
    2) Click on 'stream copy'
    3) Click to enable stream copy
    4) Select the video (and audio/sub) tracks you want to demux. You have to click on each one and choose demux for each stream.
    5) Click run

This will rip the standard VTS_XX files and generate an extra/demuxed m2v (and/or ac3 and sub track if you selected them as well).

m2v w/o audio isn't worth much normally so you might want to extract an audio track too.

VobEdit 0.6 - VOB editing utility, can split, demux, remux and join VOB files

I like this guy. Easy to use.

I find http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Subtitles/SubRip_1.15.exe useful for pulling the subtitles for easy import into Maestro.
