It will take a few minutes for text to show up sometimes, sometimes whole sentences will disappear.

Some things will freeze up for a few seconds.

I have 256 meg RAM chip in SODIMM 1 and a 64 MEG chip in SODIMM 2.

Is it bad to have the ram vary by so much?

All my system is up to date, nothing crashes, it's just very slow.

    Is it the disporportionat ram?

It might be your power supply. You can download a diagnostic tool called Sandra for free. Once you install it, run the mainboard information tool. About half of the way down, it will show the temperature of your power supply, CPU, and chipset. If your power supply is running over 50°C, then it's probably time for a new one.

Eek. I have no idea about laptops. I guess you can send it back in for testing.

    I had the same problem!
When i Installed WinAmp3 my PC was VERY VERY screwy.
Out of random, the CPU wouldn't process anymore info and I had to manually shut down the PC.
