  1. Main Concept has got to be the fastest converting AVI to MPEG 2 but I go to burn in Nero 5.5.10 and it sees the the MPEG2 file in the NERO player but when I go to burn a message comes up that the file is a no standard MPEG2 and the file needs to be reconverted which takes 3-4 hours in NERO's encoder.

How do you make an AVI to MPEG2 Conversion in Main Concept that NERO will see as a standard file?

standard mpeg2 file for what ? svcd , xsvcd, dvd , transport stream , etc . etc.. ...

main concept will create a compliant stream for any of these but i dont know about nero ..

did you select mpeg2 template in MC encoder ? if so - you should have selected the correct template instead.

    Standard MPEG2 file for SVCD.

I've played with MC extensively, I love the speed(approx 1 1/2hrs) to convert the file always plays perfect in Media Player 9, but when I try to burn in NERO v5.5.10 it always gives me the message that the file is NOT MPEG2 compliat and must be reencoded which takes another 3+++ hrs. I stopped using MC and went back to TMPGE. I hoped to get some answers here.

  7. I don't know exactly why Nero and Ulead allways require to reencode mpeg-2 file, but I think : when I choosed a Standard SVCD template of encoder, it's will be ok to burn. And when I try to create mpeg-2 file (ex: in Studio 8, or in Ulead softwares, or in Mainconcept.......) , Nero will require to reencode. It's mean that, something wrong in my setting for mpeg-2. What do you think ?

  8. I'm sure its just a setting were overlooking. I was hoping that a more experienced user of MC would see our posts and respond with the quick fix answer.

if you have that problem .. run it through the svcd multiplexer in tmpgenc .. better yet - if you use the svcd template in MC you should have no problems .

The SVCD multiplexer in TMPGEnc also makes a no compliant MPGEG2 file in NERO. I've tried the MC's SVCD template and it also makes a non Compliant MPEG2 file. TMPGEnc works great execept it takes about 6-7 hrs to encode.

  13. Hi.
I have tryed to create a Mpeg-2 file with standard template in Media Studio, Mainconcept Encoder, or Premiere, but when I tryed to burn it, Nero allways require to re-encode. I tryed again with Ulead Movie Factory 2, but the result is not better. It not eccepted my Mpeg-2 file. When I tryed to use standard template for SVCD, Nero eccepted, but MovieFactory did not. I don't know why, it's so crazy.

Thx for all the evaluations, you saved me time. I've givin up on MC for now, i'm sure future releases will address this problem. For now i'm staying with TMPGEnc(ver 259.47.155) - at least the mpgeg file works with NERO.

  15. Surely ALL you need to do is to tell Nero to burn a non-compliant svcd. This was certainly the case in x.x.9, the warning would appear, it would say do you want to continue, you say yes!
If you can no longer do this in nero x.x.10 then I would dump it and get vcdeasy. Your sure you are have the svcd plugin for nero?? maybe its trying to re-encode your mpeg2 as mpeg1??(for vcd).. main concept certainly sounds fast. is it better than realtime ?? eg 2hour movie encodes in less than 119 minutes?

very fast - excellent quality , auto splits the files to size you want while keeping everything in sync .. multiplexer is first rate

  17. Check the audio selected. I remeber that was my main problem. MC picks something other than MP2. (I forget what and I'm at work) Select MP2 and you should be fine.

If you're making SVCD's, you have options:

    1) Turn off the compliance check in Nero

    OR (my perference)

    2) Use VCDEasy to author the CD, then user Nero to burn the bin/cue

  19. sorry forgot to mention that's for DVDs. For SVCDs I'd go with the post above, author in VCDeasy and burn the BIN/Cue

  20. Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for responding

We finally got some quality suggestions on this.

  21. Hi.
You're right, I forget to turn off Nero check for SVCD standard. When I created SVCD in Premiere with LSX encoding (standard project) , Nero eccepted, but when I tryed to burn it in Ulead Movie Factory 2, it still require to re-encode. I've just read LSX release note, they wrote : "Encoding may produce non-compliant files in the case of
encoding large frame size video with an extremely
low data rate setting.". I think it's a problem when burning in Movie Factory, do you think that ?
