This is concerning the recently released PC DVD drive that Panasonic calls "DVD Burner II". The retail model number is LF-D521U and the OEM number is SW-9571-CYY. This drive has a couple of favorable reviews in the DVD Writers section of this site, but I would like to hear from other owners, if there are any. I own a DMR-HS2 and want a burner for my PC that can read and write DVD-RAM. Anyway, here are my questions:

Has anyone had any problems with this drive?

If so, what OS are you using?

Also, can you use the DVD-RAM disks with the cartridge, or do you have to remove the disk first?

I really like the the whole cartridge concept. I can take out the cartridge from the HS2 and toss it aside without any worries. It kinda reminds me of the CD caddies I use with my Amiga CDTV. (I wish I could get my hands on some more of those.)

    Thanks for any input!

I can only say that the LF-D310 (311) drive is working well for me in my 'puter. It will use -RAM disks with or without the cartridge. As for the HS2, don't have one. If the Panasonic site says it will do something, then most likely, it will. I have yet to see an exagerated statement about their optical drives. Hope this helps.

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
