I've used both tools (tmpgenc and CCE) for converting my AVI's but get a significant degredation in video quality in the resulting mpeg - even when I encode the output into SVCD format (2000 bps).

Would this have anything to do with the coding of the original source ?

    Thanks,

  9. Despite waht they say ... size IS everything ... you will not get a good conversion from a small file eg 120mb. The best conversions are when people have used a decent encoder and given some decent bitrate generally 640mb+ file. You cant put back information once its been taken out. Divx3 seems very popular and converts back easily to a VCD. tentpeg is the best tool to do this.. even if it does take its time you make up for that in flexibility.

  11. Hey Im not gonna write a 24 page thesis just general observations ... esp about the type of files you find on the internet... no-one would disagree with more bitrate=better quality... surely?!

Oh and stop the running and eat some biscuits your way too skinny Dude.
