I recently converted a 2hr. 17 min. AVI to XVCD with a 1490 Kbps bitrate using TMPGenc. I used the bitrate calc. from this site and I was supposed to get the movie on to two CDs. After splitting the MPG file in TMPGenc I ended up with a 903mb file and a 830mb file. Does anyone know why this is? I had planned on using a bitrate of around 2000Kbps. Had I done that my movie would have needed 3 or 4 disks. Shouldn't the bitrate calc. have ensured the movie would have fit on 2 CDs as I specified?

  2. Try using DVD2SVCD. I always use this front-end program for converting all my AVI's to mpeg. Works great. All you have to verify is the cd size and how may disks you want. DVD2SVCD takes care of the rest. You can find this on the bitrate tab.

If you are using TMPGEnc 2.59,then there is a bug in it which makes your outputting mpg“s bigger than calculated.
Download the new version 2.510 cause there the bug is fixed and some other bugs too.
