I am using Movie Maker 2 beta for capturing editing but suddenly when I add Titles the program crashes.

    I have P4 1.5 256 ram Win XP Pro

As it is not in add remove programs I can not uninstall it and reinstall.

I tried in Windows Upgrade but it does not do the job as it recognize me already having the last version.

I downloaded Windows Movie Maker 2 from CNET- download and installed it but the problem persist.

Is there a way to go back to Movie Maker 1 ?

    Any ideas?
Should I pose this in another forum ? Which one?
    Thanks

  2. I'm sorry - I'm not sure how to fix that problem, other than wait for a new release of Movie Maker, or Re-install the whole OS.

Isn't this one of the things M$ has been told off for; integrating apps like Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Windows Media Player and the like into Windows so that it's hard to get rid of them?

One of their responses to this was to add a feature where OEM's could 'switch off' these parts of Windows - so that, for example, they could sell PC's pre-installed with Eudora and Netscape (not sure how likely that is!)

It's my understanding though, that the bits of Windows that can be disabled are not removed, but just 'switched off'.

Part of this is the new 'Set Program Access and Defaults' start menu option which gets added with the new SP's and Hotfixes from Windows Update - I think that's part of XP SP1 isn't it?

You might want to try that - but as I say, I don't think it'll uninstall Movie Maker, but will just switch it off. You might be able to get back to version 1 this way though.

    ----

Perhaps more importantly though, why are you using M$'s app in the first place? Depending on what you use it for, I'm sure there are better alternatives out there, such as TMPGEnc, VirtualDub etc.. that we all know & love!

Finally, there's no need to Double-Post in two different forums.

If a forum moderator thinks you've posted in the wrong forum, they might move your post for you, but if you double post people might be less inclined to help - it's bad manners!!

    cheers,
