  1. I downloaded a film in AVI format, ive managed to make copys of others after a few teething problems but got there in the end.
The first task was to extract the WAV using Virtual Dub, but i got this error

So after a quick search on here and reading through some other posts, i decided to open the AVI in goldwave and save the WAV that way, all was well, so i thought.
Then when i had my WAV and AVI i inserted both into tmpgenc and started to encode to mpeg2 using the dvd template set at CQ_65.
After 2 and a half hours i go to play the film back on the PC and audio is way out of sync, so i had a look around and downloaded Gspot and ran that to make sure i had all the correct codecs installed, and it came back telling me all was ok and i had all the neccasary codecs.
Then after reading somewhere else, i tried another AVI checker to see if it came up with any different results, and found that its telling me that i dont have the required codecs
Here is a picture of what both say, and the AVI plays back on the PC with no problems and the audio sync is fine.

Can anyone help a newbie out ?

    Thanks in advance

  2. By the way ive done the way of extracting the audio in "direct stream copy" using virt dub then converted the AC3 file to WAV using AC3 encoder, as far as i know i have the full version, it doesnt say there are any restrictions, but it only encodes half the wav so i went for the goldwave option.
