I've downloaded several films in avi format
I've gone on to encode them using tmpgEnc
I've Encoded them using The NTSC Wizard so film is 29.976 frames per second
But during playback i am getting very short pauses leading to a jerky picture
Also on some films the pixcels are very large leaving large squares all over the film?????
    Can anyone please help me?

  2. The pixelation is probably caused by the fact that it was DivX beforehand - Which is kinda pixelly.

As for the jerkiness, you probably didn't use the correct region / format, whatever you want to call it. You should always check the AVI file beforehand, opening it in Virtual Dub, and seeing how many frames per second it has. For instance, if it has 23.976 fps, it's an NTSC film, I believe(?)

There is a guide to converting AVI to MPEG, to the left, up a bit, down a bit, yes, there, click "Convert". That tells you all you need to know.

If you followed it and it went wrong, then it's either
    a) A crappy computer (Running other tasks at the same time as encoding)
    b) A bad file
    c) Aliens

You cannot convert an AVI in TMPGEnc until you check it for bad frames.
