  1. I've got an apex 1500 and was wondering if my player will be able to play these discs? Any input would be appreciated especially from other 1500 owners. thnx

  2. Yes, I have an HS2 and a 1500. It plays them fine, even cheap media. The only problrm is it will not FF/RW at speeds greater than 2x. m If you push FF more than 2 times to FF faster, it jumps out of FF.

  3. Apex also works fine with dmr-e30s

I have the 500WM and it also has the 2x FF problem.

I have 2 other Apex models but did not bother to try them.
I am sure they will work.

Does not work on my own 1500W. Works fine on my mother-in-law's 1500W.

  5. I have both the HS2 and the apex 1500. The recent 1500 models (serial number starting with D) would not play dvd's recorded on the HS2 with the factory firmware. I upgraded the firmare from here http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/1500/1500_firmware.htm
and all my disks now play on the 1500.

I have notices that at certain times the playback on the 1500 will play a second or two in a "slow motion". This is not repeated when the same sceen is played back on the HS2 directly. It seems to happen more often at the better recording speeds (i.e. xp), but is not completely absent as SP or an FP recording around 135 minutess.

THe 1500 refused all disks until I applied the firmwire update. Our 1100s play them, but you get the 2x restriction. Same with Daewoo players.

  7. When you guys say Apex can read HS2 burned discs, I assume you guys mean DVD-R only. Is that right or are you saying Apex can also read DVD-RAM burned on HS2? If so, which model(s)?

I've only tried the DVD-R disks.

  9. DVD-R is all I use and those play fine.

I did test using the DVD-RAM which came with my panasonic dmr-e30s recorder.
I had recorded a short segment from TV.
Neither an APEX 1200 or 500WM unit will read the disc.

You cannot play a DVD-RAM disc in these apex units at least.
