everytime i convert a 512x384 divx file into an mpg. the video looks slightly flattened. when i burn it to vcd and play it on tv, the video looks bigger than the tv so the subtitles are almost unreadable. how can i fix this?

Do a search on the forums for "overscan", you'll find all the info you need.

Overscan is the area at the edges of a television tube that is covered to hide possible video distortion. Overscan typically covers about 4 or 5 percent of the picture.
