I'm trying to do my first backup which is on the Band of Brothers DVD Set which I got for Christmas. Anyway, I'm using DVD Decryptor to rip the disk and IfoEdit to prep it for burning to DVD-R. Things seem to well until I want to burn or make an image. Apparently I'm missing the Video_TS.ifo and Video_TS.Bup files. What am I missing here? I'm using the guide to the left for DVD9 to 2 DVD5.

If you extract the main movie only with DVDDecryptor you will not get the VIDEO_TS.IFO and.BUP files. However these are easy to create by loading your existing IFO file in IFOEdit and using VOB extras. There are other ways to create the files you need but since you indicate you are going straight to making the image I assume there is no encoding of the video stream required.

    Good luck with your ripping.

Here is what i do when backing up a dvd using the MOVIE ONLY method to dvdr. I rip all the movie files plus the:
    VIDEO_TS.ifo/bup/vob files
    VTS_01_0.ifo/bup/vob

Use ifoedit and open the VTS_01 ifo file and select VOBExtras to strip the extra audio/subtitles/menu. After its done your new folder will have the VTS_01 files along with updated VIDEO_TS files. Make sure you get sectors and save. That new folder should play in ifoedit.

Thanks jbands and rubberman for your replies. jbanks, I figured out how to get the Video_TS.ifo and .BUP files using DVD Decrypter. rubberman, I'll give your recommendation a try and let you know how it turns out. Thanks again to both of you.

From the pull down menu at the top, Mode > File F. In the box to the right you should then see a listing of all the *.vob, *.ifo and *.bup files on the DVD including the Video_TS.ifo and Video_TS.BUP files. Highlight the files you want to rip and then go to menu at the top, File > Decrypt.

  7. Thanks rkr1958. I'll give it a try tonight. I have not played much with these apps. I was very impressed when I tried dvd2one and played the vob file on my pc. Unfortunately, Nero wanted the .bup,.ifo files that werent there.I want to burn it and see what it looks like on my tv. I probably wont be burning many movies as I like the menus and extras but I like to experiment.
