  1. I am using adobe premiere to edit and have a new TEAC cd writer. I don't have the upgraded software for the CD burning. What I want to do is teh opposite of what everyone else wants to do. I want to burn just one scene of video to a CD at full quality. No compression! I wantt o save my edited footage in a way that I can bring it back into premiere for further editing. I ma new to most all of this and would appreciate any advice.

    Thankyou,
    Cecilia

    I don't think you'll get very much uncompressed video onto a CD-r.

From past experience, uncompressed 720x486 video @ 29.97 fps takes up about 900 mb per 30 seconds.

  3. Thanks for the reply,

I don't mind if I only get a couple of minutes onto a CD (most of the scenes are 1 minute long anyways)
Could you lend some advice on how to do it? I got the advice to burn it on as a data file, it couldn't be played in media player, but it could be brought back into a editing software. How does that sound to any of you out there?

    Thanks again,
    Cecilia

  4. Ceclilia,

There was a recent thread on uncompressed video bitrates here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=57559&forum=2

If you do want to back it up, you can just burn it as a data CD. You should still be able to play it on media player, but unless you have a really fast and stable CD-ROM drive, you probably won't be able to play it off the disc in real-time.

Also, there is probably little benefit in saving it as a complete uncompressed AVI file -- unless you want to go cross-platform. Saving your AVI file with a lossless codec (e.g., HuffyUV) will save space and won't affect quality.

If you are doing a lot of video editing and backup of uncompressed video clips is important, perhaps you should look into and invest in a removable hard disc system.

    Regards.
