  3. But they don't, also the format of that information is not set for browsing comments for a certain DVD Writer only.

I was thinking of creating such a database on my own site http://encodinginfo.org.uk but I'm not sure it would be that easy, I'm no expert on PHP and MySQL, I just have a working knowledge.

My idea was a database with the following info input by users....
    • Media Name
Part number / UPC / EAN
      Disc Type
      Rated Speed
      Media Code (ADVDInfo)
      Media Name (Nero CD Speed)
      User Rating
      - 1 Good Results
      - 2 Mixed Results
      - 3 Poor results
      Writer Used
      Writer Fimware

  5. You can find what you're looking for here:

    DRU500A Detailed Media Report

    DRU500A Media

    DRU500A Media Compatibility Overview

The overview doesn't list Maxell DVD-RW, but I have used them and emailed the owner of that site, but he hasn't added it.

Also, Maxell DVD-R are rated at 2x, although he has a question mark.

You'll also notice some important things listed in those threads such as burning software and compatible standalone players that were used for testing or what failed.

  7. Those are the ones certified for use with the Sony which are normally more expensive. The links I provided show end user results with certain media and players, and a lot of the media is under $1/each.
