I am 14mb shy of being able to back up Signs, does anyone have any suggestions on a program or a method I can use to trim the credits off of the end? Thanks

do you already have the mpeg file made? if so, use merge and cut in "mpeg tools" under file in tmpgenc.

if you are still at the d2v stage, just do source range and don't include the credits.

  4. Try Chopper XP. Do the Manual Extract, it works a lot better. Play the last VOB file in PowerDVD or anything else. Notes the Total time of the VOB and the Time where you want to cut. Input that into Chopper XP and you will have a new VOB in a minute.

Just burn it to a DVDRW. RW-discs usually have a bit more storage space.

  7. Here is the method, I use to backup SIGNS (movie only) without reecoding.

1)Use DVDDecrypter in FILE MODE to backup your copy of “Signs” to the HD. This will take about 25 min depending on your computer.
2)Open DVD2AVI to load the Vob
3)F3 to OPEN, it will bring up the File List Menu and load up the Vob file that DVDdecrypter rid. Select the 1st Vob, this will automatically load all 5 of the VTS_01_X.Vob files.
    4)Click on OK
5)F5 to start reviewing the movie. The Statistics Window will appear once the move starts. The “Vob Cell ID” is what you are to look at. “Vob Cell ID” is 2 - 1 at the being, but once the actual move starts the “Vob Cell ID” is 3-1(this will take about 3 min to happen), so the Movie starts on Vob 3.
6)Press the Esc button to stop the Statistic Window review.
7)F3 to OPEN, it will bring up the File List Menu. Now you will delete VTS_01_ 1.vob through VTS_01_4.vob by highlighting and clicking on the DEL button. The only vob files left is VTS_01_5.vob.
    8)Click on OK
9)F5 to start reviewing the movie. The Statistics Window will appear once the move starts. The “Vob Cell ID” is what you are to look at, again. The being“Vob Cell ID” is 21 - 1, but at the end of the movie you will see “Vob Cell ID” is 23-1(this will take about 8 min to happen), so the Movie ends on Vob 23.
    10)Quite DVD2AVI
    11)Start IfoEdit
    12)Open the Signs vts_01_0.vob
13)Open VOB EXTRAS and select Remux.
14)I only change the left side of this options box. Check by the following options Strip Steam’s, Strip VOB ID’s, Correct Vob Unit, Correct Original IFO Files, auto copy menu file to destination, select a destination for the file and click OK
15)Select the English language unit, English subtitles and click on STRIP IT.
16)Now select the VOB files needed for the Movie. Put a check by 3 though 23.
17)Click on STRIP IT and once IfoEdit is do, you can burn it in Nero.

I hope this helps. I got all this information from vcdhelp.com, doom9.org, and IfoEdit Guide Index. I am a newbie at this, so be nice. This method worked for me on making a movie only backup of SIGNS without reencoding. The final size was 4.3 G, if I remember correctly.

why dont you just set up dvddecrypter to output as one large VOB
then open that VOB in TMPGenc, and Demux the english and video
then run those thru IFO edit
    bam, done
    worked for me..
(well sorta, i had to demux each vob induvidually, cause im on FAT32, and i have the 4gb limit)

  12. axlish, don't play the vob with chopper. It can play some vob but not others. It will cut the vob without any problems.
    1. USE POWERDVD to play the last vob.
    2. Note the total time of the vob from beginning to end.
    3. Note the time when the credit will start. This is where you want to cut it
    4. Open ChopperXP >> File >> Manual Extract and pick last vob
    5. It will ask for Length (total time) in step 2
    6. Enter in new name
    7. Enter in Mark in (start time) always 00:00
    8. Enter in Mark out (end time) in step 3
    9. Click OK and within 30seconds you will have a new vob
    10. Load video_ts.ifo in Ifoedit and Get VTS sectors
    11. Rename to the same name as last vob and burn the dvd
